I just bought a WD Elements 500 gb hard drive and I am trying to use it with my 722. I have paid the $40 and activated the service. I hooked the hard drive up to my receiver and I get the message stating "the attached usb storage device needs to be reformatted to support dish network DVR functionality....Do you want to reformat the device". I choose Yes and the receiver reboots and tells me it is going to format a hard drive.
Here's the problem. Eventually the receiver boots back up but when I try to use the External Hard drive I get the same message about formating the hard drive. It just keeps looping and giving me the same message. What gives?
Notes:
- I just activated the service tonight. Should I give it a day?
- The hard drive does not have it's own power supply. It is the small thin hard drive that does not need a separate power supply. Do these work with the Dish receivers?
