Well, you have to define them a little better: 8' solid WHAT (fiberglass, spun aluminum, stainless steel, etc, versus 8' mesh what brand dish, or what size holes?

The spun aluminum and stainless would likely have a bit better signal than mesh. Good enough, I don't know, but maybe another 1 db or so than a 8' not so good mesh dish.

I'm in mid-Michigan with a 7.5' SAMI mesh, Titanium c1pll, and I have NO issues at all getting the Retro mux on 113W. It's better now than on it's old transponder.

Surface accuracy is the key. It doesn't matter if the reflector is solid, perforated or mesh.

What is the highest efficiency rating you ever saw on consumer dish. What brand was it? I've heard some good things about DH Satellite's spun dishes.
