Still confused about this whole single-link/dual link cable issue-I am currently using the dvi cable that came with my hughes hd D* box and it is single link-does it really matter-should I rush out and pick-up a dual even though I am watching on a rptv and not plasma, dlp or lcd?

Single-link DVI supports up to 1080i, and may have six pins missing. Dual-link supports up to 1080p and has the full complement of pins.

So any of them will work just great since u can't get more then 1080i from it

As I understand, VOOM STB has dual-link DVI. I think you should buy a dual-link cable. Check this out: http://www.pacificcable.com/DVI_Tutorial.htm
