I'm not convinced that PSIP data is reliable enough to warrant spending $200+ on a device that seems to depend on it. Maybe it doesn't and "lifetime" guide service is included in the price but I doubt it.
Requiring the use of a FireTV or the FireTV app is not a corner I'd like to paint myself into. Transfer of recordings to other devices/servers is NOT supported.
According to the FAQ, there is an odd requirement that recording an entire series must be set up at least 14 days in advance of the first episode.
Voice control of DVR functions isn't something I can anticipate getting used to.
They do not allow you to "manage" recordings (delete, set as keepers, etc) from the app.
There is surely a place in a FireTV environment for a device like this but it doesn't much appeal to me given the designed-in limitations.
