Anyone downgrade their subscriptions and gone to NETFLIX for the movies?

I got a letter and an email from Suddenlink on the same day telling me I was using more... So I called and the CSR told me they were sending those out because they had found folks who were not subs using subs open networks. I told her we had 3 unemployed/retired adults one of whom is a gamer and downloader of a lot of things, movies included and we all 3 utilize Netflix. I also said I checked terms of service and there are currently no limits. She agreed and stated if all the gigs are coming into my home on my computers there is no problem and to use all the pipe I wanted to.

I'm stuck with them because the other option is Embarq DSL at 6mbps and I have a 15mbps with Suddenlink. I'm sure in the future all ISPs will cap but if it's done like AT&T it won't be too bad. If the folks who only do a little surfing and email actually understood they are subsidizing those of us who really enjoy our connections they would probably get a bit upset.

I was told by Suckenlink that I had some kind of violation but they couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me what it was. In fact I wound up having to talk with a network eng 300 miles away to get my cable modem/router cleared so that it would work again. They had sent a shut off code to it and no one could fix it but the guy at the main network site. I was at their medium bandwidth setting which varied wildly from 4.5 to 8 and the more people on the line (prime time) the slower it got. So now I'm on AT&T which promises up to 6 but is pretty consistent at 5. I really can tell the difference either. I'm also saving 10 per month for a yr.

I now have a ROKU box. I took the Netflix $10/month option, which also gives me one DVD at a time, in addition to unlimited streaming. I also have free AlJazeera English, a bunch of BBC channels (on the "nowhere" channel), CNN International, France24, etc. etc., Youtube, a separate channel for HD Youtube videos, Hubble channels, local channels from all over the US, the list goes on...for those who watch (I don't), there's also a free porn channel. You can also watch your own or downloaded (and converted) .mp4s via a USB port. Netflix maxes out it's HD stream at under 4 mbps; my service is 6 mbps, so I can still use internet if someone else watching HD stuff. I still have not downgraded, as I like to watch Bill Maher on HBO, and the Bill Maher clips on the Nowere channel are pretty short. I have not tried Hulu yet, though, I should see what they have to offer.
