...losing some of there basic SD channels, such as VH1, SpikeTV, Nick, and MTV? If this is true, will the same thing happen with VOOM?

No. They are not due for a contract. V* just got a contract done.

After researching a bit online, I have gathered that Viacom (which owns these stations), are in some sort of dispute with Dish, and Directv, and might pull the plug on these with those guys! WOW, that's pretty big news, if that does happen. That's good that Voom isn't involved!
 
DIRECTV reached an agreement already with Viacom. It is pretty much just Dish at this time having problems.
 
Ergen vs. Viacom & Disney

Charlie Ergen, president and CEO of Echostar, has been in the news quite frequently in Denver. Echostar's headquarters is in this area, so the paper has run quite a few articles about disputes that the company is having with Viacom and Disney. Nothing really specific, other than they are involved in negotiations over programming, and that Echostar continues to look for merger deals after the botched attempt to merge with Rupert Murdoch's company.
