I'm miffed with how much F1 gets attention in the US these days. Indycar is a much more competitive series and most of the races are in the states. Yes, F1 is "F1", but Indycar is much more compelling racing. F1 feels like high class racing with too much drama.

Meanwhile, Roar before the Rolex is this weekend. The VP racing series is out on the course.

The following week is the Rolex 24. Former VP racing series racer, Samantha Tan is graduating to the Michelin Pilot Challenge, racing in tandem with Random Vandals Racing which is reintroducing a car in that series after skipping a year. The Michelin Pilot Challenge has one of their four hour events the day before the 24. I look forward to seeing the other 4-hr event at Mid-Ohio. Tan has done respectably in the lower series, which provide trophies a bit easier due to lower numbers of entries in classes. She'll be getting truly tested with notably larger fields in the Pilot Challenge.

Yeah, F1 is so relatively infrequent that I try and get into other racing - but lose track of when it's on, and am not engaged or interested in any of the racers or teams. The combination of F1 coming here to Vegas and then the Netflix series humanizing the participants and allowing me to connect to all of the personalities involved is how it got it's hooks in me. That's led to playing the F1 video game as well - of which there is no Indycar equivalent. Atlassian sponsoring Williams has also given me a reason to be a fan of a specific team, given my IT career for more than a decade has been focused on supporting their products.

At the same time, we've had a NASCAR race here for a while and that's of course just stupid popular and I'm not really interested /shrug.

On another forum the motorcycle racing gets more mentions and traction (no pun intended) than Indycar.

All of that sounds interesting, but unless I start reading random blogs or something or am already a big fan of all of those things you mentioned, how would I even begin to keep up with all of that? Googling around, looks like there is/was a Road to Indy series but it's dead. Maybe I'll give that a try. Anything else you recommend? Looks like some of their races are on Youtube, are they always there?
