So I took Uverse up on a nice offer. 92 bucks 1 dvr and 2 HD receivers.
Plus top tier package. Plus 100 dollar gift card if i kept service for a month.

Ill add that I already have Uverse for phone and Internet. Both of which im very happy with.

I was told that the non dvr units can now pause live tv and record.
Also that like direc tv I would get the extra wimbledon tennis channels.
Wrong on both accounts.
Of course I did my homework on this.
No wiring needed. I was already wired for Uverse tv.

I was doing this only to save some bucks. Put Dtv on vacation until my football
and hockey were back. I do still use the premium channels.

So I guess you get what you pay for. Direc tv was never put on vacation and
Uverse lasted just 5 days. Packed up and shipped back about an hour ago.

The quality was just a notch below direc. Not a bad service at all. Still direc is still top dog.

I just wish that direc would take better care of us long standing top tier customers.

So why didn't you give Uverse a chance? If PQ was just a notch below D*, what were some of the other issues you had with UVerse?

Mains reasons no pausing live tv on secondary receivers or multi channels of tennis(only during majors).

I was told I would have both.
If Uverse had that Id keep them.

Also picture while very good just not as sharp as Direc.

I guess the only way to see if you like a service is to give it a spin.
I was already wired for it from initial setup 3 years ago.
Plus Uverse there is no contract.

In the end i could not settle for Uverse over direc tv.

I actually had a similar experience with AT&T. Within 5 days, I packed up their equipment and sent it back. My issues were, HD PQ was terrible compared to D*. I had two Identical Samsung HDTV's side by side and AT&T looked more like SD at the time. Also, I am a family of 4, with 5 TV's. The limited amount of streams you can have going at once (4/3HD) just did not work for us. Third, constant audio and video drop outs were annoying. I was less the 1000' from the VRAD, and this dropout issue was an everyday occurrence, AT&T could not fix. Lastly, my internet connection is 24/3. When 2 or 3 tv's were on, that fell to a max of 6 to 8/.5. Im sure there are a lot of folks that use the Uverse service with minimal issues, but for me, as Lern4482 said you get what you pay for.

I know several people with U-Verse and FiOs. I can say that one is fortunate if they live in a FiOs area as FiOs and U-Verse are worlds apart. FiOs is many times better than U-Verse

So Lern, why did you not keep the U-verse for the month, weather you used it or not and you would have had the $ 100 gift card ?

Good question,
In the end I would not use it.
I would choose direc before I flip over
to Uverse from my universal remote.

I do think we direc folks are spoiled with such a good picture.

I could have kept the service for a month than disconnect.
But it did not have my tennis that direc offers.
Plus the HD just was not good enough.

On a plus note, the Uverse customer support is stellar.
They are top flight.

Ive heard from my buddy in Ny that Fios is the best.
Never seen it myself though.
Not sure how different it is from Uverse?

When you have direc I really believe its the best picture out there.

Your display also makes a difference !

I spoke to retention at uverse regarding no pausing live tv. I also found no extra tennis coverage.
Maybe different regions have different features/programming.

The pause live tv on all boxes was pushed in the latest update, right before I canceled it last week for the same reasons.

You know it's subpar HD when the wife notices while watching a soap opera.

I agree CS was top notch. When I canceled TV they gave me a better deal on the Internet, wasn't expecting that.
