I believe others have posted comparisons to BD vs DVD adoption rates, and BD was a bit ahead.

In terms of adoption growth rates, you also have to keep in mind that the technology is still dependant upon another adoption: HDTV. It's easy to say that DVD still controls a huge majority of consumer households, but that's really because SDTV still dominates that landscape. I don't think anyone's arguing that HDTV isn't going to last, so once you see adoption rates of high def sets really start to climb, I promise you that blu-ray won't be far behind. I've been working with Warner Home Video on some blu-ray projects and have been all over this stuff.
