In Ct there are many pockets where Polka was or is extremely popular. It isn't my favorite but because it was so popular where I grew up I have listened to it. Here is a tribute by a local radio station to their very popular program. They are not exaggerating, people went to services based on when this person's show was on.

i talked to a friend of mine who works at blue highways tv and i suggested that the channel should be in HD.on dish this is what she told me

Oh come on Hall, There's polka dances all over the place in Central and Northeast Ohio. Here in SW Ohio we have plenty of them during the Oktoberfest season.
