I need to get a new dvd recorder or a dvd/vhs combo recorder . I recently got a new Directv box with HD . And not being a techie all the acronyms are confusing . What would a recorder need to have to record from the satellite box and possibly record in HD ? Should it have a tuner or not ?
I don't need anything fancy or complicated , I just want to record some programs to discs . I would really appreciate any help .

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

I'm not sure if anyone makes a consumer grade hd dvd recorder. If they do, it's expensive! A regular dvd recorder will record in widescreen, but it won't be in hd. It will look fairly good, though. It wouldn't need a tuner since you would be using line level inputs to record to.

Thanks for the welcome . I've checked so many other websites and just got more confused , I'm glad I found this one . Thanks for the information Chip , it helped a lot .
