Boost is the 30/2 package from Cablevision. Everyone, at least according to CV, now has 15/2 speeds, since the speeds were upped to compete with FIOS. Too bad CV can never touch the 5Mbps upload of FIOS, which I miss. You have to sign up for Boost and pay more per month, I think $14.95/month if you don't have OV, and $9.95/month if you have OV. But yes, you should be getting 15 Mbps speeds or close to, 12-14 Mbps. You may have an older modem and need to replace it:

I will check the modem model but I am sure I've got one of the new ones. I checked the connection on a wireless connection last night and it was like 5mbps download and 1.5 mbps upload. I used this http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
to check the speed. Maybe I should take my laptop to the actual modem and make a connection and check the speed from there.

It could also be your router some older routers have a 10mbps wan port while the newer ones have a 10/100mb[s wan port. Since your getting more the 1mbps upload I would lean toward the router. Also if your connecting wirelessly your will also see a drop in speed.

I checked at the modem and router and I am getting about 10mbps. Not quite the 15mbps or 12-14 promised by CV. I have the Motorola SBV5120 modem so I should have been able to get something closer to 12 but no cigar.

Any other thoughts why? Should I call CV and ask why?

On a separate note my wireless is killing me. With wireless I only 4-5 mbps. Anyway, at the modem I am getting less than the 12-14 mbps. Anything else I can do?

It may be your router. I had to change my router in order to get BOOST to work. See here :

Comcast boost is free in the boston area. At least that is what the commercials are saying.

That is what I thought and disconnected the router and connected the laptop directly to the modem and did not get more than 10mbps.

I changed the router and now I am getting 12mbps even wireless... G-Wireless, of course.
