Captive Works Ultima Acting Weird

I have had this STB for about 5-1/2 years now and it has been working fine, but today when I started it up I noticed the channels are no long in their programmed sequence like 0001, 0002 etc instead the same channel are now in the 0205, 0206 sequence. Also the volume and channel screen display indicators is very faded and when I press the Menu button the menu screen is in black and white and asks for a password for every category. I also noticed that the time on the front panel display clock shows some weird hours like 43:12 instead of the 24hrs time scheme. I tried turning off the power several times by unplugging the unit, but it still boots up to these unusual parameters. Could this be corrupted firmware ? I think I am pretty helpless if the menu screen is not functioning properly. Any ideas on what I can do to regulate this ?
