I have a CapativeWorks 800S Receiver. A new upgrade is available but I'm not sure of the exact procedure to download. Also do I need to download the "uploader" to do this properly. I couldn't find any instructions on the CaptiveWorks web site.
The unit works fine, however, I just don't want to miss anything.

yes you need the uploader

I found these instructions out there........take it for what its worth

1)Connect your PC and receiver with twisted RS-232C Null modem cable.

2)Plug in the power supply cord of your receiver to the power source and leave
your receiver turned OFF.

3) Turn receiver Off from the back and then ON the receiver; Once it has rebooted; now press "POWER" key on front of the receiver panel to bring it to standby, the LED display will display “- - : - -“.

4)Start Loader CW800SUpgradeV1.02.exe
Check if the right COM port is selected. Most of the time COM 1 is default.
Also make sure Download S/W is selected.

5)Press File Icon beside File Box and select the file you downloaded from the Company website
Now Press Open or Press Enter key on your keyboard to load file in your loader.

6)Now its time to start loading the software, Press Start button on the loader and the upgrade will begin.

LED screen on your receiver will change to A ####s and then Writing. Finally you will see “–End”.

no problem

I have a cw600 and the instructions make it sound so hard ot do but its pretty easy :)
