CBS Cancels late show

I have not watched them either, in a long long time. When I go to bed I want something to fall asleep to, not watch shows that are supposed to be all comedy now just one political comment after another. That stuff don't help me sleep it makes my blood boil and keeps me up.

In addition to that most of these "Celebrities" they have on now, I have no idea who they are. So not as fun to watch.

Carson was a master at keeping it light.

It was never the same after these two. Leno was OK. Letterman had his moments except towards the end. Then he just got super weird. Colbert simply wasn't funny and the show was to political IMHO.

Carson was the master at late night. Leno was quite good. Letterman was ok, until near the end and Colbert wasn't funny at all so I stopped watching after a bit. Haven't watched any late night for years now - get more sleep that way. Don't care if they drop the hatchet or not...

This is the only reason why it was canceled-

The New York Post reported that The Late Show has been hemorrhaging money, with losses estimated at $40 million per year, driven by high production costs exceeding $100 million annually and a sharp decline in advertising revenue. Industry-wide, ad revenue for network late-night shows has plummeted 50% from $439 million in 2018 to $220 million in 2024, according to Guideline, an advertising data firm. For The Late Show, ad revenue dropped 40% from $121.1 million in 2018 to $70.2 million last year, unable to offset the costs of a 200-person staff, a Manhattan theater, and Colbert's multi-million-dollar salary.

Again, the ABC/NBC late night shows will be next, quite quickly actually, losing too much$$$$.

Just go back to letting the local stations run whatever they want to in that time frame. Like the late show and syndicated reruns of TV shows. Since I retired I'm in bed by 10 to 1030pm every day. I used to record Colbert for the monologue and the other comedy bit "Meanwhile" and rarely watched the interviews, unless it was someone I wanted to see. Late shows on all networks are now a victim of changing people's taste, dying off of older generations and streaming.

Well first off no such thing as local stations! We have just a handful of corporations that own 95% of all "local Stations. Thats why its so expensive to get your locals for a reasonable price!
Now I firmly believe young people ignore politics as they know it really dont matter how or if they vote?
When a presidential election, and someone wins 7.5 million votes and still loses, explain that to them?
