Washington Redskins cornerback Cedric Griffin has been banned for four games after failing a drug test, according to Reuters.
The National Football League decided to bench Griffin for a handful of games once it was determined he had violated the league’s policies on performance-enhancing drugs. The ban will reportedly go into effect immediately.Unfortunately for Griffin, he will miss the rest of the Redskin’ regular season. The NFL said that he will be able to return to the field on December 31, just one day after the last game. This means Griffin won’t be playing against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.In addition to getting banned for several games, Griffin will be required to pay a fine for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. According to the Baltimore Sun, Griffin has been fined $294,118 after failing the drug test. Although Griffin started in 14 of 16 games for the Vikings last season, he’s only started one game with the Redskins.
