Hi Guys,
I bought a new “GTMedia V9 Super Receiver”, which came pre-loaded with a Satellite List for Europe region.
Can you kindly help and tell me How to replace the built-in Satellites List in this receiver with the North America Satellites (mainly for Toronto, Canada area)?
Many Thanks . . .

I believe you can download a list and load it to the receiver via flash drive. I have a V8 Nova and I just manually entered the satellites on the receiver.

I have a v8 Golden. I downloaded and installed the North American satellite list. It works great.

This is a hack box, why is this posted here as it’s definitely against forum policy and terms of service?

I used to forbid the discussion of these boxes. I know these were marketed at one time just for hacking. Then changes were made and they would not work any longer. Then so many people are using them for True FTA that I started to allow it. As long as they kept it FTA.
Any FTA receiver with the right firmware could be a hack box. Could they be working again? Maybe, I don't know.

I followed the link to the forum that the OP posted and lots of posts of keys and softcams, etc. I just thought that any sort of references like that were off limits. My bad.

I originally bought the GTMedia box to use as test equipment. It was cheap ($35) and it did blind scan. I originally used it to locate satellites and transponders to program into my AZBox.

My $300 AZBox has 4:2:2 MPEG2 Chroma decoding (The reason I bought it), but no blind scan. The AZBox was a pain in the butt to program and had buggy firmware.

The GTMedia box worked so well that it has replaced the AZBox as my main receiver. I am even able to view 4:2:2 video by using the SAT2IP (SAT>IP) function. The box will not decode 4:2:2 video directly, but I can pipe the tuned channel transport stream with SAT2IP to another box running VLC. VLC will display and record the 4:2:2 video transport stream.

The GTMedia receiver is an excellent value for the price. There's no reason for it to be banned from this forum.

I've never been able to make SAT2IP work on my V8. Which app(s) are you using with your STB?

It doesn't look like GTMedia implemented the full SES SAT>IP specification into SAT2IP. Upnp with HTML, however, is working. Their Android viewing applications are not working with the V8 Golden receiver. They are supposed to be working with the V8X and V8UHD models.

On a PC, bring up VLC and select View/Playlist. Docked playlist should also be checked. Now go to the main screen, Left Column and select Universal Plug'n'Play under local network.

Reboot your receiver. Go to SAT2IP and turn it on. The name of your receiver should show up in the VLC window. If you click on the receiver name, a list of channels (limited to 128) should be displayed. Click on the channel that you want to watch. SAT2IP will use your saved favorites to populate the list.

SAT2IP is not stable. Frequent channel changes from VLC will cause it to stop working. A receiver reboot will be required to get it running again. Hopefully, their new receiver models will have this fixed and will work with the Android apps.

I agree 100%. My V8 is a great receiver with a very sensitive tuner. It stands on its own as a versatile, feature-rich receiver. I can even use it with my Slingbox and some of the remote control functions work.

This was already addressed in post #6 but then when I went to the link you shared it's full of so*tcam keys and how to use the boxes for hacking but I'm sure nobody on this forum purchased the boxes to do that. What the heck, not my monkey not my circus. Enjoy your hobby.

That's like accusing somebody with access to the internet of downloading porn. It's not the technology that's bad, it's how it's used. Like KE4EST said, almost any current STB could be used for hacking with the right tools. Nobody in this thread has mentioned anything about hacking except you.

I wouldn't provide a link to another forum that provides bin files and So*tcam keys but like I said not my monkey not my circus. Have a good day sir and that will be my last comment on the thread.

For the record, I agree with Arion and we should not support or link to a company who actively promotes and distributes files enabling hacking. This company has been providing bins and soft keys for stealing content since day one. Go to any legitimate DVBS/S2/SX manufacturer or distributor website and you would not find access to theft of service bins and keys.

Stick your head in the sand, jam your fingers in your ears, hum loudly and ridicule folks with a moral compass all you want, but promoting a company and a product that is primarily manufactured for Theft Of Service in simply wrong. Period...

SatelliteGuys has traditionally had a policy of no hack talk, linking or promotion of theft of service allowed. Some may say that this is a grey area, which I completely disagree. There are other forums available for promoting these companies, products and illegal practices. Too bad that it is now SatelliteGuys!

Well, that would seem to me like something that the moderators need to work out. They said it's OK, so if it's not ok, they need to state that clearly and delete these threads.

I'm using my V8 for legitimate FTA purposes and if that's not appropriate to discuss here, that needs to be stated.

Other forum members pointing fingers and being snarky doesn't help any of us.

It would seem that your product, the Edision, that many of us have, is capable of hacking as well (my menu has a conditional access screen) so that would remove your product from discussion too, right?

By being a longtime and respected SatelliteGuys member, I would think that you would not want to promote anything that is potentially damaging to the hobby and the forum.

Once again, sounds like you need to take this up with KE4EST and the other moderators. I have done nothing here against the rules, nor did I post said link. I have promoted the positive aspects of the V8 Nova, which I own. Never did I say I use it for hacking.

Please provide a single link where Edision or TNAP provides any support or links to any file or usage other than the legitimate usage of the product. Don't be slinging Bullsh!t as we both know the difference!

Per KE4EST : "Any FTA receiver with the right firmware could be a hack box."

I didn't say it. He did. Your beef is with the moderators, not me. Take it up with them.

I'm done.
