I just have to pipe in again with the experience I had today with 97w. 1st of all I tried with my birdog without results, then tried my trusted el cheapo channel master. Still nothing, I was all over "something" don't know what. Last but not least I took my battery powered 7" lcd and with the help of diplexers I had a view of the fta receiver @ the dish which was 180' from the house (los issues). Before I went to dish I set fta receiver on 97w & set frequency to 11842, symbol rate to 22000, & polarization to horizontal. It took a total of about 10 minutes to find signal quality with that setup. As far as being a cheap, nothing beats being able to see the signal screen on stb @ dish. The battery powered 7" lcd I have cost $65 off ebay with free shipping. Throw in a couple diplexers & the cost is still under $70.
