Chieta diseqc switch

I just ordered a Chieta 4x1 diseqc switch. It looked like a good one....the company has been around quite a while. I was wondering if anyone has this switch, and how it performs. I just bought an ROC a few weeks ago, but I don't seem to get the signal strength I used to get from my original switch. Some channels I used to get are now so weak they are unwatchable. The signal used to be up in the high 80's to low 90's ( Coolsat 5k)....they are now just above the threshold @ about 65 to 69. All this stuff started after a severe thunderstorm a few weeks ago, which fried my diseqc switch. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have used them for several years and never had a problem with them. You might also need to check your coax cables and connections. It could have gotten into your Coolsat too. Or your dish got moved by winds. Lnbf could have taken a surge...Several things could be causing your problems..

I have used the Chieta heavy duty switches for a couple of years with no failures, but I'm with Ironsides, it doesn't sound like a switch replacement would make that much of a difference in Q, I would look at the other issues he mentioned.

I purchased two Chieta switches about a month ago after I had a lightning strike that fried my old one. One new one didn't work and the second one just quit on me last night. I am using the one that came with my Pansat receiver now but that's my last one... The new Chieta switches seem to be much lighter, several ounces, than the old original one. I suspect they are built much cheaper than they were in the past. I won't buy another one unless it is the older heavier switch.

The ones that were no good were listed as "heavy duty" and about $5 more than the regular one... likely the same unit is listed as heavy duty or regular. I purchased them from a popular satellite supplier via E-bay.

You could try bypassing the switch by installing a barrel connector to see if the signal levels improve. Then you would know if the lower signal levels were due to the switch or not.

I had the same problem as Cham. I bought it because it's supposed to be better than the switches that come with the receivers; But it failed within a few days.

I've had mine for 3 yrs now..no problems..one of the best as far as I'm concerned..

Was there a recent discussion of possible counterfeit switches?
Thought I read about it here.
If your supplier seems reliable, maybe he's unknowingly being sold the garbage. (?)

I'd change to a less popular brand. -
