Cleaning house - Goodbye Primestar :)

Well it was a sad, yet happy day for me the other day. I been cleaning house, and decided to sell my all time favorite Primestar dish. I did not use it anymore, and did not like the idea of it sitting behind my shed. So, after being posted on Craigslist, I found her a new home. I delivered the other night my old Primestar dish, Fortec Lifetime Classic NA and Fortec LNB and a few switches and parts to a new FTA hobbiest. He has been looking into FTA for awhile, and has lurked here and a few other places. I told him to jump in and we can help him out if needed. I also offered to help if he ever needs any help setting it up as he is only about 45 minutes away. I told him that everyone on this site is very helpfull - even told him about Iceberg offereing to come 500 miles to assist! So, it was sad to see the Primestar go...but it was nice knowing that she will be enjoyed be a new FTA'er!

From the topic, I thought I was going to be sad.
Like going to a funeral of a loved one.

However , after reading the post, it's quite the opposite.
More like a happy birth-announcement.


I keep trying to lite the fire in others, but it's like leading a horse to water.
I'd have to give 'em all the equipment, AND go install it.
Glad to hear you found a self-starter.

Very Very Good! I like to hear things turn out right, even if they aren't entirely Happy, got to be some sadness in this? But, at least you've done a good service for a fellow hobbiest.... I hope he will enjoy it, he should, but FTA isn't for everyone. At least you've found a like minded friend?

I hope he decides to join up here. I have gone from having a yard full of dishes down to 1 motorized set up. The funny thing is I have not missed anything - I still watch G10 - RTN 99% of the time And my yard looks a little nicer

man one dish ..... i couldn't think of it
i have one working c-band dish and two in waiting
and one motorized ku primestar with three waiting

but glad you found it a new home

I just hated to think of it sitting behind my shed not being used Now I have thought about upgrading my 80cm...then what to do with the 80cm? hehe BUT, I only use 1 dish/motor. So, I will stick with what I have
