I've had several drives that have failed in the past two or so months and I'm more than a little curious as to why this is happening? And I mean these drives aren't that old and Smart Drive checks on them are showing just a few months of actual up time?

On the other hand I have a few old EIDE drives that Smart Drive tests show 5 to 7 YEARS of up time and they're still working fine?

The failures I'm seeing are mostly "Read Errors" and several have been under warranty and were replaced by the vendor but I'm still perplexed as to why they are failing?

Anyone have any ideas on this that you'd like to share?

Thanks
