I didn't make it to the first commercial break. It might have been that I had a child throwing up on me at the time, but from what I did get to see after that, I'm still not really into it. Might give it another couple of episodes.

Have watched CSI for many years. But the season opener last night I found boring and was nearly put to sleep by it. I was totally put-off by Ted Danson. I'm afraid that his presence may spell the demise of this popular long running show. (Only my opinion of course). Not sure if I will continue to watch it. May switch to the new ABC show Revenge in the same time slot. Recorded it last night but have not yet watched it.

So Ted Danson made your baby throw-up? :p I'll give the show a couple months to see if the cast and characters start clicking. Oh, I just noticed that 12.6 million viewers tuned-in for the season premiere. Those numbers seem low to me.

At 10:00 PM, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (P) was first in households (7.8/13), viewers (12.59m), second in adults 25-54 (4.1/10, -0.1 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (3.1/08). This was the time period's best delivery in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 with regularly scheduled programming since February 10, 2010 (CSI: NY).

I know they won the timeslot but they used to murder (e.g, make a crime scene out of...) their competition. Regardless, CBS placed them in an excellent timeslot following Criminal Minds.

I like Dason. He brings a way different perspective. CSI is the only CSI that still brings me to watch and record. I think Ted will do a good job.

Just the fact that they moved it from Thursday to Wednesday and from 9 to 10 alone may bring the ratings way down. More people are sleeping by 10 midweek than they are by 9 late week

Agreed. I used to watch at 9 Thursdays, but have to record it now if I want to watch.
Liked Danson as Becker, never did get into Cheers. It will be interesting to see where it goes with his character.

I have been watching most of my programming recorded on the DVR for the past 7-years. In fact, I don't know many people these days who don't make use of a DVR or two or three. Regarding the bean-counters, I will often record show during the week and not have time to watch them until the weekend. It would be more accurate if they counted a percentage of recordings instead.

4 in 10 U.S. Households have a DVR...nearing 50% in many major markets. I think by next year most people will have at least one DVR in their home. Still, I feel the timeshifters/placeshifters are not be adequately counted in the ratings.

4 in 10 US Households Have DVR
Because advertisers don't like DVR's. When people watch a show on DVR, they typically skip the commercials.
