I think you may be right http://dev.space.com/spacenews/militaryspace/Syracuse_042805.html

"In the latest example of the headaches involved in juggling two different Ariane 5 rocket variants launch vehicles and the need to launch two satellites at a time, Arianespace will put DirecTV’s Spaceway F2 direct-broadcast television satellite and Indonesia’s Telkom-2 telecommunications spacecraft on an Ariane 5 ECA rocket for a flight to occur in late June at the earliest."

BREAKING NEWS
DIRECTV Reveals Launch Date
The third satellite in DIRECTV's arsenal to deliver more programming services to its customer base within the next couple years has been set for launch June 24 from Kourou, French Guiana . Spaceway 2, a Ka-band satellite is designed to help DIRECTV deliver more than 1,500 local and 150 national high-definition channels by 2007.

DirecTV8 is now showing up on LYNGSAT, however, Spaceway1 which was launched 1 month earlier is not. Does any one know if their was a problem with Spaceway1?

Its there

it just not in its orbit yet. you have to go to there satellite page to veiw it.

Hopefully not, the article says 1 of the 2 satellites. Any chance it's the "other" satellite? If spaceway is delayed it's only a couple weeks but that probably means that much longer until we hear the "big update" we've all been waiting for.

Spaceway F2 Likely Delayed

Arianespace reorganizes its mission schedule: The next launch is set for the night of July 7-8, 2005

Evry, France, June 6, 2005 - A technical problem with one of the two satellites slated for launch on the night of June 24-25 has resulted in a reordering of Arianespace's mission scheduling.

The next launch is now set for the night of Thursday, July 7 to Friday, July 8, 2005, using an Ariane 5 Generic vehicle to orbit the IPStar satellite for Thailand's Shinsat telecommunications operator.

If "the next" launch is July 7th how can there be any launch on June 24-25?

I bet its a dual launch. Ariane5 is capable of that.

http://www.arianespace.com/site/launcher/future_sub_index.html

"This performance ensures that Ariane 5 will be able to loft the heaviest telecom satellites in production or on the drawing boards, and enables Arianespace to match up most spacecraft for highly efficient dual launches – a capability of that has been proven by the company in Ariane missions since the 1980s. "

one payload is holding up the other.

From Skyreport........
A DirecTV spokesperson said the company is in discussions with Arianespace about the re-scheduling development, and that the company's goal is to launch Spaceway 2 in July. The delay is not tied to an issue aboard the Spaceway satellite, which has been ready for launch for two months.

i-Newswire, - In order to adequately diagnose and fix the TELKOM-2 satellite, Orbital Sciences Corporation, the manufacturer of the spacecraft, is immediately returning the spacecraft to its facility in Dulles, VA, USA.
DirecTV’s Spaceway 2 satellite, manufactured by Boeing, has successfully completed all pre-flight testing and is now ready for fueling. Spaceway 2 will be placed on standby.
Arianespace is studying all available options to execute the launch as early as possible.
