Im seeing a new channel on Zap2it.com website
channel 77 listed as "Program Guide" on July 31
Could it be mentioning the new listings of new channels launched indicating channel numbers.. ?
channel 77 was one of many channels used last fall when directv launched hd from dtv10. could be ready for a reappearance?
thanks for the updates! So 90% of these channels are RSN's and MPEG 2 conversions to MPEG 4? What is Push HD? thanks.
Definitely a whole lot of nothing. It seems like next week will mainly be mpeg2 conversions, so don't look for any big batch of HD channels. At least Direct can claim more channels once their part time RSNs become full time (Dish counts the part time ones, so this will at least balance it out a little more fairly).
I do see ABC Family and Push, so it looks like 2 NEW channels.
Mpeg2 channels becoming mpeg4 for those of us that can see them is a BIG thing as far as Im concerned.
I agree. There are many thinking that we will be getting a lot of NEW channels next week. I was simply pointing out that this does not appear to be the case.

Local: 1 (MY Net from Saramento) not sure what's up with that
RSNs: 12
Other: 3 (ABC Family, Toon - we have ToonHD on 296, could this been Nicktoon or is this a duplicate?, and PUSH - not sure what that is)
The RSNs are:
FSN: Rocky Mtn, Pittsbugh, Sport South, North, Arizona, Midwest, Northwest, Ohio, Florida, South
MSG
Sun Sports
Anyway, I'm not sure what to make out of this list. It is somewhat as planned - DNS, some RSNs, and the MPEG2->4 converts.
What I hope is not right, why 6 more PPVs, and there is still no significant new national channels on there.
One thing they could do is launch some national HDs on D10 as well as they convert part time RSNs to full time. The would need less room for the part-time channels and as they reduce this need they will open a few spots.
But if they stick with this, we're still only looking at room for 20 or so national channels, and only 1 appears to have made the satellite so far (ABC Fam).

If they want full coverage of everything for the sports ticket channels, they're going to have to make some part time channels CONUS.
They already are on Conus. That is how we are able to watch the games on them from anywhere in the USA on the channels themselves with the sports packages (I am not talking about the sports package specific channels). They are just not on Conus full time.
Good question, since MSG is already 24 hours.
Perhaps just a placeholder to test bandwith for something else. Much like I HOPE the PPVs are, indicating we don't need 6 more PPVs.
I hope that too with the PPVs. We have enough already. In fact I wouldn't care if D* removed some and replaced them with national HD. I'd be highly disappointed if D* added more PPV channels with so many national HD channels out there that aren't on D* yet.
With this list we have two channels that already are full time and are D10 (Toon HD and MSG HD). If D* wants to move them from D10 to D11 along with 6 existing PPV, I'd hope that new HD would take their place on D10.
I wouldn't think that you would put HD LiL on CONUS transponders
EDIT to say unless D* reconfigured the transponders to be spot beams which I think they can do.
Remember, most of the HD PPV's are shared with the part time/game only RSN's. So maybe they'll just stop the sharing and just make what they have now full time?.
