Directv Dish and Dish Network Dual LNBF

Yes I am new and Trying to learn, I am trying to use a Directv Dish and Dish Network Dual LNBF(would not bolt up). Will the Dish Network Dual Y yoke work if i buy one?
Also if I do get something to work Where do i start to look for a Sat. in the sky? (Elevation & Azimuth)

Start by telling us where you are located, what system hardware you have (dish, motor, receiver) and what you are trying to receive. Put that D* dish in a box (I think it is too small, but it depends) and I am not 100% sure but don't think the E* LNB will work either (at least its not the best option IMHO)

I have a D* 18" x 20" dish and TWINHAN 1020A VISION PLUS 1022A FTA DVB PANSAT FORTEC Card for my PC and a Dish* LNBF as a start up and learning tool.

Still don't know where you are to tell you what satellites you can "see" and not sure how you decided on all your equipment without knowing what you want to see OR what satellites you have line of sight to, but here is a FTA list and to the left they have a satellite finder for you. There are also FTA that "pops up" that you may never see in any list, but over time you can learn where to look.

One thing I can say since we are being so vague is that trying to get any Pay DBS signals for free is illegal and not discussed here, but there are tons of things up there that are DVB/FTA.

I would recommend getting another dish and LNB. I would get a MINIMUM of a 90cm/33.5" DISH
and a universal LNB this will provide a much better chance of reception and much less headaches trying to troubleshoot

Charlotte NC, and my equipment is some i had and some i read about that would work (I thought) I am wanting to find FTA and what ever is out there kinda a treasure hunt to do in my spare time, Nothing illegal
You know you would think some one would just make up a list of recommended parts and options that would work together. you are the first one to shed some clarity and have helpful suggestions
O what brand or type is one better than another

Without a KU LNBF and dish you are stuck with the below channels, thats if you can get your dish and LNB to work together.

Well, just FYI those were merely example parts I listed, although very usable. That FTA listing they have will be a great start and as others visit this thread even more links will pour in. I would REALLY ditch that dish/LNB combo. I think it will have you pulling your hair out and wanting to give up this great hobby before you really get into it. I use my 10' BUD with a C/Ku analog & digital slave master setup mainly but have a 90cm fortec dish to goof with. I am not sure what brands are better than others. Most people seem to go after price on their first go, but then learn features to find. I like my samsung. My gear is listed in my signature.

I dont think they are listed on Consumer reports?

You can't go wrong on any dish in my opinion unless its damaged, just be sure to get the biggest you can deal with over 33" and get a quality, low db, universal LNB. I hear people rave about the Pansat 2500a, but PSB can give you way more receiver info than I can.

Is RG6 the best cable to use?

RG-6 is the easiest to use. Use Quad RG-6 for better signal quality and a flooded coax if the cable is to be palced underground. We often perform commercial installations with RG11 and hardline coax if the cable distance or signal integrity are issues.

The previous statement of dishes being equal is incorrect. We have performed exhaustive tests on most available reflectors. There are tremendous differences in performance and construction! Example: the Winegard DS2076 is an excellent small dish, outperforming larger 80CM dishes.
