How hard is it to replace the internal HDD with a larger one, is it more difficult then changing the HDD in a desktop computer.

Not too bad, with my HR20 I went from stock (250GB) to 500GB to 1TB to 1.5TB and now it has a nice 2TB internally.

And are you giving back the 2TB one when / if the box goes bad ?
You have violated the terms and conditions of agreement when you opened the box, so I'm guessing that the leased box is NOT going back to D* if you have a problem .... you on your own.

That's fine he's just letting you know. You do violate the TOS when you do open the box, But saying that.
