Dish Network clobbers Pansat

Panarex must surrender dishes?

Back to the subject of Panarex.

Late last year I started looking for a C-band dish & was allowed to look at some(3) 6 ft "DX" patio mount spun aluminum dishes at the Panarex warehouse. Never did bother to go back to try to take some pics for Anole & others. However the $550 price was way too high. Just have to wonder if some of the prime focus & offset dishes I saw back then would possibly be up in a liquidation auction.
I just tried to contact a local fta retailer through which I was allowed to enter the business, but he doesn't seem to know.

Not likely a chance of snagging any, employee's always get first pickin's, they'll likely be gone before any public access.

Isn't Echostar and DishNet one-in-the same?

I'm not sure what this question refers to, and I'm not positive about the company relationships, but I do know that back in 1990 I had an Echostar C/Ku IRD , and that was long before there was a Dishnet. The Echostar series of IRDs was identical to the Houston Tracker receivers. When my Echostar finally broke, I bought a couple HT receivers to get parts from, and got it working temporarily, until I shorted something out, and killed it forever. But now, it seems like Echostar refers to the satellites, and Dishnet seems to be the service and receiver end of the business. Dishnet rents space on sats other than the Echostar sats, but I think you're right that Echostar and Dishnet must be different divisions of the same company. I'm sure someone knows.

They are 2 separate companies but were one in the same for a long time (hence in the Dish area they call it E*)

Dish was spun off in 07 per wiki

correct

EchoStar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:EchoStar.svg" class="image"><img alt="EchoStar.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/1f/EchoStar.svg/202px-EchoStar.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/1/1f/EchoStar.svg/202px-EchoStar.svg.png

On 28 December 1995, EchoStar successfully launched its first satellite, EchoStar I. On 4 March 1996, EchoStar established the DISH Network brand name to market its home satellite TV system.

and then

On 2 January 2008 the Dish Network business was demerged from the technology and infrastructure side of the business. A split in the shares created two companies, DISH Network Corporation which consists mainly of the Dish Network business, and Echostar Broadcasting Corporation which retains ownership of the technology side including the satellites, Sling media, and the set-top box development arm.

Pansat

Too bad about Pansat but they must of known what they were getting into or at least allowing to happen on their watch.

I still love my 3500s, what a great true FTA receiver, I was hoping for Pansat to be around for a long time, doesnt look like thats going to happen though.

I did some research a few days back concerning a receiver and a totally different matter. I was surprised, shocked would be better to say, totally shocked at how many receivers have been used. It's really shocking or at least to me it was.

Here is just a small list but there are many more unfortunately

Dish Network don't have the resources to sue each and every manufacturer. Charlie is trying to flex his $$$ muscles because he's mad that his crap encryption was cracked. If he would have took that money and secured his system with good encryption in the first place he wouldn't have been doing this today for piracy. Knowing Charlie though he would find another way to try to take out FTA. Charlies master plan is to kill off everyone and have his stupid dish network the only system to watch tv. He has just about killed 4DTV and he's killing FTA. Next he will go after direct tv and cable. He don't have the bucks to destroy the last 2 yet but if he keeps getting payoffs from these companies he's shutting down he will be on his way. Something else to think about too. Every subscription dollar spent with Dish ultimately gives dollars to his cause. He will never see a cent out of me ever.

I agree and let's not forget he's making plans to rid us of OTA just wait and see. I know I've said this before, but when we 1st started the switch to Digital and selling the Coverter boxes. I noticed ES had several boxes coming out that had card slots. What's the purpose of card slots? PPV? Yea right and if you think that I have an island for you in the mountains up the road. After less than a year we're seeing commercials airing here warning about the attempts of special interests to take away OTA. I checked into that and those warnings are legit from my findings.

Ok so it's a new day, Charlie you've spanked a few FTA mfger's and fixed your encryption. Time to move on! FTA mfger's have been warned, the eye patch gang has been punished. Stop beating the horse and let us have some free tv either by OTA or FTA. You have enough that anyone should be happy with their success!

McGuyver, I dropped my subs a couple of years ago due to health issues and lack of income. FTA and OTA are all I have and after a couple of months the wife got used to it an she loves it...Best of all she likes it because it's free other than what my equipment or upgrades costs.

True.

But I was wondering how many brands did he destroy???

One Korean or Chinese manufacturerer probably private labeled many names on receivers for other firms, some were designers and some were just distibutors.

I wanted to drop my subscription with DN but my wife must have her preferred channels and she won't settle for the 104 FTA channels I get free. Darn that woman!

If I had to pick who to go with for pizza it would be direct tv. At least your not giving Charlie any cash flow that way. I would check and see if they offer a better deal for you. I actually called Direct just out of curiousity and they wanted to give me choice plus for $24.99 a month after they did a credit check. BTW this can be done without using your SS. They can do it by your address. I told them I'd think about it and that was it. If I was in that situation with the little woman to keep her happy would at least look at the options to can Charlie.

Dudes you are forgetting that charlie has not gone after the end user unlike the a holes of directv, I feel like Charlie does not want to go after end users so they fell sympaty for dish and subscribe.

I had DirecTV years ago...until I found out Rupert Murdoch took ownership. Dumped it within a week, and went with Dish Network. Without getting myself in trouble here, I'll just say I can't stand Rupert or any of his networks. To me Charlie's no saint, but definitely the lesser of 2 evils! (Yes I know DirecTV is owned by someone else now but I want absolutely NO chance that Rupert gets a dime off of me! )

Charlie has wanted customer lists that bought FTA boxes for the companies so I wouldn't say that the end user pursuit is over yet.

I guess we all hate someone ;) That's why I have neither, need to look north to Shaw for future programming I guess.

It's easier

It's easier to go after the suppliers than the end users. It would cost tons of money to go after all the end users in the end he would not really make any money from the end users...In todays economy he would be lucky to get two apples or oranges for his efforts to take people to court.

A lot less expense going after companies like Pansat. It would also lead Charlie into getting a bad rep with some of the public which might cost him bucks in the long run through dropped subs or people switching to Direct or Cable...

i will personally never use either direct or dish again.
me and the wife are verrrrry verrrrrrry happy with my rotor and antenna that is bigger than my car, my fta, and the internet:D:D:D

Me personally, I could live without the pizza Dish altogether.... but the wife and kids, now that's another story.

Interesting when you go to Pansat site. I went to download software for a receiver I need to resurrect from hackware

Warning against Signal Theft :

Through the course of DISH Network litigation against Panarex, it has been brought to our

the use of its products for this purpose and any such use expressly voids the terms and
conditions of our product warranty. Panarex fully supports all efforts by DISH Network,
EchoStar and NagraStar to investigate, identify and prosecute the compromise of their
security technology and theft of their services. Should Panarex discover that you are using
our Pansat branded products for such unlawful purpose, we will provide that evidence to
NagraStar and cooperate fully in their investigation and prosecution of all such activities.

Sincerely,
