Ok, after switching to Dish Network a year ago, I am still waiting for my locals to be broadcasted in HD. I do not have access to the correct orbital to get the locals (on the 119). I have the 61 orbital which is the HD orbital (I think). Each time I talk to dish network, I keep asking them when they will have the locals in HD (harrisonburg, VA).

My question is: Who exactly makes the decision to put the locals on the HD orbital? Is it Dish network or the people who run the locals? I cannot get locals through OTA because of the location of my house...many mountains and hills and trees.

Any help? Any other way you think i can get locals?

locals

You are correct, locals in sd or hd are not available in your area. You can try going on the internet to mydistantnetworks.com and maybe you can get distant networks there. It does come from 119 though so you would have to install a seperate dish for that if you don't have it now. If you are interested in all kinds of information about Dish Network look up "echostar knowledge base" on the internet.

That is not quite true. Harrisonburg gets an SD ABC from Harrisonburg, and SD fill-ins from elsewhere. See SatelliteGuys.US_TheList - Dish Network Harrisonburg, VA

Are you on Eastern Arc (61.5/72.7/77)? Since you already get fill-ins from DC, you might consider "moving" there. "Moving", as opposed to actually moving, involves telling Dish your service address is different than your billing address, i.e. some valid address in the DC DMA. Hint hint nudge nudge know what I mean?

I am on eastern ARC 61.5 orbital. I have already tried my distant network. they are on the 119 orbital so I am no good there. Can you explain further on how i get the other stations from DC?? You can pm me the answer if you do not want to put it here.

He's asking for HD locals via satellite. Since none are offered as yet by Dish, he has only one good option IMHO, and that is "moving". Note the quotes. ;)
