For months we have been hearing rumors that content owners had their sights set on going after both the third-party Kodi Add-on makers and also the libraries that help you find these add-ons.

Now it seems that Dish Network the parent company behind Sling TV is making the first big move here in the United States. It was recently announced that Dish Network had filed a lawsuit against “TV Addons” and the third-party add-on “ZemTV” for content infringement.

Looks like a multi prong attack on them. The local news in Tampa and I'm sure it's happening everywhere, announced internet providers will be going after people when they see associated IP's showing up. Started in the UK, some here said they were going to but never really followed up on it, now they will. I also see the two sellers at the Flea Market are gone.

And from what I've heard, that option requiers a lot of updating or they won't work at "receiving" the content that Joe Blow paid a pretty penney for--that box with add-ons--and neither he nor his buddy Joe Sixpack have any techie knowledge, so the thing just stops working after as soon as a week. And complaints about the box's reliability and PQ. And the people who sold it to them are LONG GONE. Did they really expect that thing to keep on truckin' so easily after the seller relieved them of their cash? Apparntly so.

I hate seeing those boxes sold at RV and other shows. Last RV show, I exchanged words with them.

Yea they were selling that junk at the Detroit autorama too.
many people I know use similar stuff, but it is all bootleg quality bullsh*t sub-titles grainy etc. I would rather wait or pay for quality product.

Not gonna lie I do miss the EVERYTHING package I used to receive, but even then there a
was not sh*t to watch. Can only watch so much porn....lol

It's funny I have a few coworkers from India who are always trying to sell me one. I always try to compare these boxes to my current setup and I tell them how great my setup is, and I try to talk them into subscribing. All they say is nothing beats free and it must all be free, any show or movie absolutely free and nothing can beat that. I tell them they can keep there junk.

It it not just those crappy chinese boxes, you can put Kodi on both the M-Box and Nvidia Shield, both are official Android TV Boxes, do not even have to side load the app, it is right on the Google Play App store.

I use Kodi all the time to binge watch shows that I may not have on Netflix or Hulu...Or if I missed an episode that is not available On Demand at other places yet.

I guess I'm a thief...

Pretty much the definition of it. No different than the music sites like Limeware years ago. I was guilty of it too back in college.

Kodi is shaping up to be the Napster of streaming TV for sure, and history will repeat itself. so i think in 5 years, Kodi will either be out of business or relaunched as a true pay service with legal agreements with major entertainment companies like Napster ended updoing after they lost their battle with the RIAA and the US Government.

It doesn't matter if Kodi disappears or the addons. More will take their place. Dish is fighting a losing battle.

I don't think it's a loosing battle.

I actually stand behind with Dish on this issue.

This is actually worse than the FTA satellite receivers we had to deal with 8 years ago.

Atleast with the FTA garbage people had to pay a few hundred for the box, pay for a dish, pay to install it.

Today it's just plug the fire stick in your tv, put in wifi password and your up and running for less than $100.
