Dish Satellite now under 5 Million subscribers/Sling under 2 Million.

I believe this is the appropriate place to put this, from the 1st Quarter Report-

EchoStar's legal battles

The abandonment of Dish's 5G network is at the heart of a number of lawsuits involving tower companies and contractors that Dish quit paying last year. Dish continues to say that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) forced it to sell spectrum to AT&T and SpaceX, which constitutes a "force majeure" event that tower and other companies dispute.

It's not just tower and fiber providers that are affected. Fierce spoke with property owners across the country who were collecting rent from Dish for 5G antennas and related gear on their property. Dish stopped paying them as well, citing the "force majeure" argument. Now they're stuck with unused 5G equipment on their properties – and it would cost them thousands of dollars to remove it themselves.

They need to do like DIRECTV did and clone the satellite service to the internet service.
That will not increase subscribers, unless they lower the price point.

YouTube TV has won that battle.

What Dish/Sling needs to do is create the smaller less expensive packs that DirecTV and now YTTV offer, that is what customers seem to want, to complement whatever streaming services they have, be it Netflix, Paramount+, Disney, etc.

Since there is so little new content on Paid Live TV, people are tired of paying that over $120 a month, especially when more important things costs so much higher currently.

An all streaming service, with good content, based on the Hopper 3, would be well worth paying A BIT extra for.

But alas, it seems that ship has sailed.

I think the entire TV industry is imploding.
Not for streaming services, all the major ones are now profitable ( except for Peacock, which is terrible), as I have been posting for years, it is a streaming future.

And its kind of sad to see.
Not really, Cable/Satellite have been ripping us off for years, with their ever increasing fee increases that greatly outpaced inflation, along with the additional fees ( Boxes, Broadcast, RSN), they deserve what is coming to them.

It is worse today, every year, less and less new programming, yet we still have one to two price increases every year.

I don't think they can lower their pricing unless they redo many of their contracts to make that possible, And dont see that happening with folks like Disney suing them for things like the Sling Day Pass.
Why is it, that Dish seems to be always behind other providers?

It is not like they cannot read the same numbers to see how the TV industry is changing as the other providers have?

Most have known the last few years streaming is taking over.

Google (YTTV), DirecTV and Charter are adapting, they have to deal with the companies that Dish deals with, why cannot they do the same?

Dish was one of the first (if not the first) to launch a live TV streaming service.

Does not matter what happened then, it matters what happens now.

Both YTTV and DirecTV planned for this day, started a few years ago, why did not Dish do the same?

Charter also, but went further, by adding in the streaming services, one of the reasons why they are the #1 TV Provider.

I don't even think Charter services my state. Its Xfinity country here for most of the state.
I know they are not everywhere ( same with Comcast), but they are still the number one TV Provider.

YTTV is number 2
Comcast #3
DirecTV #4

Oh, you betcha, and by even more given they can't get as good of a deal on programming anymore. Plus simply fewer subs to try to profit on

Huge chunk of eastern CT is Spectrum (Charter). I like them better than Comcast (for internet). They sure have a bad reputation, but I've always had great customer service, and they are quick to give me better promo pricing when one expires.

Cord cutters website had a story yesterday about they are expecting Sling Tv to go under this year. So I can see Charlie trying to sell off both Sling TV and DISH again to Directv or anybody to get out from under the dual sinking ships.
