Not a spammer. Just trying to explain The dish 1000+ will give you better signal. Since 118 location and 129 no more used. You adjust the big dish just looking at 110/and 119. Azimuth and elevation must be adjusted since you are only looking at 2 location will give you higher signal. call the loyality department and ask for lower price since they are loosing customers left and right for both directv and dish.
Fwiw, there are Plenty of DISH employees/ former employees/retired and users on the site.
If there was anything news worthy regarding improving signal strength, they'd have found it by now.
As was mentioned, if you can fine tune your dish, your Golden.
i tend to disagree. it's how it's pointed at the sats and how good of a signal your getting
that's why we left direct after the two years... the bill went through the roof the cost just wasn't worth it. dish seems more reasonable after the promo runs out will be interesting to see...

The 1000 has no better gain than the 500. I found it actually to be worse. It's just a bit wider to allow for bouncing 3 slots to the feed rather than 2. DiSH really made some compromises there to add HD whilst keeping all the SD going.
Since 1998 I always purchased the dish antenna and receiver from Dish. Never had a contract. Never had a technician come to my house. Only when i purchased Hopper
I call them to see if they can lower the price last 4 years. Enough of which antenna is better I am done with that. I will stay with dish since 7 more months americas 250 is $104 including taxes. It is a good deal.
The $104 charge for next 7 months for americas 250 is with my 2012 VIP 211K receiver.
The Hopper Duo I own they will charge $10 monthly fee if activated. It has no bulit in connector for local channels like VIP 211K. I had to buy the USB connector for Hopper Duo.
They dont sell any VIP 211 any more reason they want to collect the monthly fee $15 and $10 for all hoppers for even purchased Hopper. I hope they can bulid a receiver with streaming with out the DVR like VIP 211K since i dont need DVR.

Anyway, let us cut them some slack. The ViP211 series is long in the tooth. And there's money to be saved by reducing the variety of receivers supported by the code base.
