I did a 2-year price-lock agreement with Dish about 2 weeks ago. So, it'll be interesting to see how the price increases affect that. I've been with Dish for 29 years. I thought it was less than that, but yep, since '97.

I'm 12 mos into a price lock, I'm paying $50/mo and not sure it's worth that! Will reevaluate in 12 mos but likely cancelling.

I remember back when I cancelled my Dish service at home a few years ago....they guy looked at my acct and said he had never seen an account as old as mine...he was really shocked. Offered me all kinds of stuff to stay active but by that time I has stopped watching Fox News and most of the stuff we watched we could stream.

I bailed at the beginning of 2022 due to more price hikes and less reason to have all those cable channels showing network reruns. Got in 25 years before I bailed. :smug

The thing about it is that we get long power outages here in the fall/winter with windstorms and trees going down on the lines. 12-17 hour long outages 2-3 times each fall/winter isn't uncommon. Got a whole home generator that runs the home during the outages. When the cable goes out (about an hour or so after the power goes out), there goes streaming (and the wifi and phones/internet). With Dish, at least I still have TV.

I know, Sat TV is sun-setting and that eventually streaming is going to be the entire thing (aside from locals OTA, which isn't possible here), but until Dish goes away, or the cost gets insane and they force me away, I'll likely be with them...

But wait, sling is streaming, and they're losing that as well?? Couldn't happen to a nicer guy
i tried sling years ago and there was alot of digital blur. i think the max res was like 720P half of the time the DVR didn't work right. the so called tech support was awful. and good luck getting your coin back it's a prepaid service.
