DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 3/26/2008 1:24pm - 210 changes

Wrong.

The actual explanation is that the National HD Channels are asking more money than Dish Network wants to pay.

And/or they are requiring that Dish Network also add other channels that Dish Network does not want to add at this time (such as Bravo-HD or CNBC-HD).

In my book, both of those would come under the category of HD not being important enough to Dish. If that were the case, Dish is making a value decision as to which is more important, low price or more channels.

So in your world, there would be no more HD on Dish, and they would be justified, is that what I am reading?

Or, the channel Dish is wanting to add simply can not because the channel is on contract not to provide to other carriers until a certain date. Could be the case here ...

Let me put this to rest.. AMC16 wich was at the 118.75 Orbital location, Known as the 119K location was launched on or around 5/10/06. That bird was eventually replaced by Anik F3, and moved to the 85 degree location.

The first life at the 118 spot was on 5-31-06, exactly almost two years ago. 2006 Changes to the Dish Channel Chart

There you go :)
I was just reading that. SO they used AMC16 temporarily before ANIK F3 went up. Thanks for that info!

Here are the HD locals sans bloopers.

Man, Dish is starting to give me a complex.

I root for the Browns. I root for the Indians. I root for the Cavs. I root for Ohio State. And I still subscribe to Dish Network.

Thanks, Dad...For teaching me to root for losers.

Jeezz... leave for 2 hours and all hell breaks loose.

I loved the report...from my side we weren't promised anything but picked up some locals. The other locals will come.

About the Mobile, AL locals...they will probably come from the Jackson,MS uplink which I haven't see any life out of yet.

I'll take value. Like the HD Only package I now subscribe to. Very well priced.

I'll wait for the channels that say HD but only have one or two shows in actual HD.

It would be nice to see BSG and SGA in HD the day the eps are released, but, UNIHD will show them later and I can get caught up on other shows I recorded and then moved onto an EHD for watching later. I'm on Chapter 8 of Heroes - Season 2 right now. Its nice to have a whole season ready to roll when I'm ready to watch and have time.

Besides, I'm sure SciFi-HD will be turned on in the next month or two anyway.

The Raleigh local HDs were moved to 61.5 three weeks ago and yet they have not turned them on? Anyone have a guess as to what is up? They had them on 118 but no way was I going to buy another dish -- I have two now. I got excited when I saw them move them to 61.5 but they have not turned them on??

That Eastern Arc product better show up in May or I might have to go over to DirectTV!

Digi will the New Orleans HD local come from the Jackson, MS uplink also?

So any word on why the Austin locals were removed from the uplink? I've given up all hope on any new national HD but we were led to believe that Austin was going to be in the first wave of channels to go live, and now they are gone?

I'm guessing that the reason why there is a lot of concern over not having locals in HD, starts with customers that can't receive the service with an antenna? Seems like a lot of complaints are from "flatlanders". Sorry that you guys are having problems . Could it be that your home town station isn't up to par on their transmitter? From what I've seen, the off air signals are higher quality than what is provided by either "D" or "E". Go national! !

If you're looking for national HD channels other than scifi and usa, better wait until skyangel is gone. Theres no room on 61.5 until that happens. Or they move NYC to a spotbeam. That would free up 1 conus tp as well.

Remember these new HD LILs are only possible by turning on the 61.5 spotbeams. You don't just flip a switch and the channel comes in. New uplink facilities had to be designed, built, outfitted, fed with the local channels via fiber or microwave, and agreements in place with locals to retransmit. I wouldn't be surprised if all of that took longer than a year from concept to operation. We saw their applications to the FCC just a few months ago for approvals to transmit from the new uplink sites.

I'm not trying to make excuses for the lack of HD additions by Dish. I want more too. The lack of scifi and usahd is puzzling. To me it appears they have decided LIL is more profitable than additional national HD. I am hoping in a few weeks when skyangel goes away, they will be adding additional national HD on those two TPs.

I'm starting to feel the anxiousness leaving my body, and the heavy weight of doubt is sinking in. No Locals again :( Time to go watch the SD version of General Hospital, yet again. One day Carli, i will see you in a much higher resolution :(

General Hospital is not broadcast in HD.
