DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 5/22/2008 4:09pm - 49 changes

Hot damn... this is better than porn!!! 20 more HD.. Wait.. imagine if they were 20 porn HD's!!! ;0 Giddyup! ;0 hah All jokes aside, I am loving that charlie has come back to life now and kicked DirecTV in the @ss!!!!! ;0

Actually these are available as of right now as actual channels...

WE HD, AMC HD,, IFC HD, WEALTH HD, QVC HD, rfd hd, FUSE HD, FUEL HD, SPEED HD, FOX BUSINESS HD, FOX NEWS HD, FX HD, ALL THE HBO AND CINEMAX FEEDS ARE IN HD NOW, BOTH EAST AND WEST...AND TRUST ME DISH DOESNT EVEN CARRY ALL THE HBO/MAX FEEDS IN SD. STARZ HAS A FEW IN HD, SHOWTIME TOO HD, CBS SPORTS HD, CMT HD, MTV HD, VH1 HD, NICKELODEON HD, PLANET GREEN HD (DISCOVERY TO COME OUT IN JUNE), MAV TV HD (PREMIERED IN 1ST QUARTER), ION TV HD, TRINITY BROADCASTING NETWORK HD (TBN HD), MOJO HD, WGN HD, THE MOVIE CHANNEL HD, LIFETIME HD, LIFETIME MOVIES HD, A&E CRIMES AND INVESTIGATION NETWORK HD, SPIKE HD

These are all the ones that I know of off the top of my head that actually has an HD channel(s) in the sky that some providers may or may not already carry. And I am sure there is more, so there is well over 20 channels of HD out there. Whether or not they actually show HD programming--well I can't tell you that.

Hope this helps.

We just mean a credible source. Unbiased source. "And we know but can't say", is not journalism and not a credible source.

Well thats all your going to get. And it could be a complete lie. Fact is, it doesn't matter one way or the other, so just believe it. Voom is never coming back.

Man, I was just about to drop Ultimate. Now, I'm gonna wait to see if they sweeten up Ultimate. If it's a bunch more HBO HD feeds, I'll drop Ultimate and get HBO for only a few dollars more and a lot more real HD.

I'm not sure if I'm reading "The List" correctly, but saw these:
9445 - Tmp13
9446 - Tmp14
9447 - Tmp15
9448 - Tmp16
Weren't these rumored to be WGN, Mojo and 2 Showtime channels from the last time?
So maybe we have 24 channels of Temp programing.

I was just thinking...

I was just thinking the other day that if dish could somehow find the bandwith to add 20 channel rather than just replacing the 15 Voom ones it would be quite the marketing coup...

...according to the way both dish Network and DirecTV now count HD channels, this would put dish at 101, would it not.

It could be HUGE for Charlie to start a..."First provider to 100 HD Channels" campaign...especially after all of the HD Leader press Direct's been able to get for the past year...

It is an SEC regulated corporation, so there are only two "sources":

- rumor

- press release

If it is not in a Press Release, it's a rumor.

I say again, press releases and the SEC have very little to do with each other. Press releases are not governed by the SEC. The only real link is that certain information that may be in a press release may also be required to be filed in a Form 8-K (such as a new material contract that would have an impact on previously released projections). So as far as Dish being an SEC regulated company the ony two "sources" are rumors, and official filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, etc).

just don't want to miss the last season of the Shield on FX, that is the only thing that has kept me from jumping to HD Only.

I'm right there with ya! The Shield has been a favorite of mine for a while. Though last season seemed to drag a little slower than the season before.

There are really only a few channels at this point that I am waiting for to go HD, even if it is not actual HD in the beginning.

I know some disagree with HD channels being added when they are not actually broadcasting HD content as it should be, but I can understand it must be difficult to get all of their content transfered and new HD programming in the bag. So I'm cool with it, as long as they make an effort to produce HD content once the channel is up and running. Plus, this is a huge step in making the HD Only package actually work! What a deal! :hungry:

I wish i knew what these channels are! in 2 hours i'm scheduled for a D install and i'm really hesitating. i have 2 hours to cancel this thing and walk away. god i need a clue!

Walk away while you still have the chance. Unless you NEED to have the channels that D* has available right now, you'll regret the decision. Go with the company that has the best technology. E* has the best DVR in the 722, and is still pursuing bigger and better technology. When the deal is right, Charlie will add new channels.

The end game of this is who will have the best equipment, and from what little I know, that's Dish. The channels will eventually equalize, the technology won't.

My two cents.

Why not cancel the install, wait a few days, and then if nothing, reschedule? A few more days with E* isn't going to kill you is it? I think Dish realizes they are going to need to do some jockeying to remain competitive. Sure, I am really ticked about Voom, however, I did not jump ship because of it and have to believe Dish has something in the works for these slots. I cannot believe they would rather the tps be used for no HD, rather than niche HD.

Adding Speed-HD in time for the Monaco GP would be great. I have a D* HR21 here at work, and F1 looks better on SpeedHD. Only trouble is that I can't get away with watching an entire F1 race on the Lab's LCD screen. :D
