I have my Windows 7 PC setup for DLNA support and it appears to be working for some videos. Anything I have in AVI, WMV, or MPG format work. I can't seem to make it work with VOB files. I had a bunch of DVDs I copied to my hard drive where it creates a AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder and all the video files are VOB format. What is the trick to making these work?

No hes talking about playing back video files on his network, using the DLNA feature of the Hopper.

I don't think VOB format is supported by the Hopper. I have had the best luck with MP4 files myself.

I'm curious about this as well. I tried a few xvid videos and those were fine. But mp4s would just hang and never start...

OK, I copied a movie to MP4 format and it is working. Thanks.

One last question....when watching the movie on the hopper the fast forward and rewind do not work. Did I do something wrong or is this just a limitation of the Hopper? I even noticed that once I stop the movie and try to restart the only option is starting over from the beginning. Not very user friendly.

I'm no expert on DLNA but I do use it sometimes between my Mac and my Sony Blu-Ray player. I think the lack of fast forward and rewind is a limitation of DLNA. But I have never had a problem pausing and restarting.

Unfortunately it's a limitation of the Hopper. I'm using Plex for my DLNA and my Roku box has FF and REW capabilities. It makes it really tough to watch anything on the Hopper.

DLNA (Home media) quick guide

1. Plex server on the same network as hopper http://plexapp.com/getplex/index.php

2. What is it? mediainfo will tell you exactly what format you have. http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

3 Handbrake for transcoding ideal format x.264/ACC, Xvid is what you will run into 80%, totally incompatible, I look for x.264 @ download to avoid transcoding. If you do need to transcode select Regular/Normal profile in handbrake, this will give you x264/acc "normal" quality which looks fine to me, you can cheat if the audio is in mp3 choose mp3 passthough this cuts 5 min off my 12/15 min a gig tc time. Add media to folder you choose in plex server setup

$. Router needs port 22400 forwarded to the comp with plex running google your router model for instucts on this
You should have a working media server now

6. Sucky hopper setup,

7. Settings/network setup/broadband/reset/save

Learn this, EVERY time to use/change/breath on home media you will need to do this

8. Menu - home media - plex server - drill, drill, drill, drill - eventually you'll find some media at the bottom, a square icon if if it's good a ? if format ist nicht, "play to end" playlist is useless, can't be saved as soon as you exit pooff, no ff/rr/resume pause next pretty much it.

9. If you really use this feature spend $50 on a roku it will ff/rr ect. runs off the same media server, the remote can be learned and you get netflix, hulu and yeah! FREE PORN!!

I think the other Scott suggested using software for a MAC, he said it works.
What is the best software to use for a Windows PC. I want to get it installed and ready for my Hopper install that is coming.
