Do people still watch satellite TV these days

That's what our first installer told us. the ones that still have sat t.v. are the old folks:biggrin. for us the channel lineups are not there yet for one app!!!
Amazon's Firesticks and FireTV's have a feature called "Live" that provides a listing of the programming on many apps collated into a single menu similar to the sat and cable listings. And of course there's the voice command feature as well for quickly finding desired programs.

Direct was better in the 90's before att wrecked it ;)
WOW .....
ATT didn't get involved with it till it was already on its way down that slide.
ATT wasn't doing anything with it till 2015-16 ish

Yes, D* was better back then, as everything was cheaper.

The demise started when the Internet took over the way we watch TV ... aka the age of the "No Attention Span".

People have always complained about Customer Service, then again, people complain about CS for Every company from time to time.
When they decided to quit making new recvrs and quit sending new Sats up into orbit was the real start of the demise.

ATT didn't help it any, nor did the company that took over after TRG, (they were basically a Banker, nothing more) TGR can never remember.

So basically, your describing Cable.

There was no company that took over for TPG. TPG bought DIRECTV from AT&T and now fully owns DIRECTV.

Yes, it's very similar to cable/sat listings. At a lower price of course... ;)
Scattered thru out the Streaming apps all over the place, instead of in one location accessible with one guide, where one can see everything thats on in One Guide.

You pay a higher price and you get the guide .... YTTV, Hulu Live.

Fwiw, I just yesterday put new Televes Antenna up for my neighbor.
She does No Streaming really, Prime Video, she set up yesterday as I reminded her that she gets that as part of her Amazon Prime sub.

You do know, that RSNs receives extremely low ratings, the majority just do not care about them.

Along with, YouTube TV now has more subscribers than all of DirecTV ( including uverse, Satellite, Internet).

YTTV-10 Million

DirecTV-8.8 Million

The NBCU and TelevisaUnivision disputes followed battles earlier this year pitting Paramount Global and Fox Corp. against YouTube TV, which has hit 10 million subscribers since its 2017 launch.

DIRECTV's video subscriber base is the third largest traditional multi-channel video programming distributor (MVPD) in the U.S. with about 8.8 million subscribers at the end of 2Q25.

The RSNs were created, one after the other after the next, on the premise of milking the public harder & harder for sports revenues. They were put into basics packages so everyone could share in producing the sports revenues, whether they wanted any sports or not, and many have consequently cut the cord.

You do realize that when ATT took over, they didn't fire all the existing CSRs, they were still working just like always ...
What you said is true!!! as i had a few tell me they were from the old days. the ATT system is what f'ed everything up

Your MISSING the Point ...
Go ahead and dislike ATT all you want, but D* was on thier way downhill BEFORE ATT got into it.

Btw, if you want tp be correct on the name ... it currently is at&t, back in the original days it was AT&T.
The lower case att designates the 2nd coming of ATT, remember, it was Bells before that

To be honest DTV really never made profit!!! not hating on ATT but they just made things a hell of alot worse

No, they really didn't ... they just allowed D*'s downward slide to continue ... instead of bringing new ideas, which I was for, except it happened as Streaming really took hold, which put them in an even worse place.

Instead of them taking over and dealing with DISH and Cable, they now had Streaming to deal with as well ...

As many are finding out, you have the loss of Channels with Streaming as well ... pricing disputes.
