Do people still watch satellite TV these days

Is that by choice ?
Is that your LOCAL TV Station ?
Albuquerque has been for most of this century, once we had 2 Roswell and a local, then the local sold to an El Paso station.
One Roswell sold to and came from Lubbock, Tx, then all ended up in the central part of the state.
I loved El Paso and Lubbock news and ads as those are the closest big cities besides Midland Odessa.

Umm, errr- Notice how cheap TVs have become? Subsidized. The images displayed can be analyzed to detect what you are watching. This info is then "phoned home" over the Internet. TV manufacturers are paid for this. This can be stopped by blocking certain addresses at the router. I started to do this, but decided what the hell do I care if they see what I watch? Might cut down on feminine hygiene product ads.

I considered getting some real rotgut porn and see what happens. Can't quite figure out how to present this idea to SWMBO…..
i forgot what it's called but microsoft wants to do the same thing by taking screen shots of your pc and storing em on your hard disc. now what in the hell makes me think that they won't upload the data and sell it!!! i bet they will!! that's invasion of privacy in my book when you use sites like banking and passwords how do i know that hackers won't get my info

The new model roku sets demand you connect them to the internet or they won't set themselves up!!!
How else do you expect them to receive the content?

They're referring to the Roku model TVs from TCL and others, some of which won't act as a TV without going through the online setup process. Even if all you want to do is watch regular TV via antenna, cable or sat or use another device like a Bluray player or game console.

Could you connect it to the internet and set it up and then disconnect it? Or does it always have to have a connection to the internet.

My ONN Roku TV was connected to the Internet for setup and then disconnected since I'm using it with a Firestick. If I hear about an update, I connect temporarily.

How do you expect to do updates, which can have nothing to do with streaming, mostly picture issues and the likes?

i never had a set with picture issues... explaine things like certain model sony's getting black screens and panny 4k disc spinners not reading 4k discs after things like updates. nothing one can do about it other than buy a new device and prey it don't happen again... . just sounds like planned obsolescnce🤔

"Stupid" TV's are getting harder to find. Especially in the larger sizes.
the tv on our patio is an older sunbrite model. it's a stupid t.v. after looking at the new models there smart now  . i prefer video walls for there brightness. plus there stupid that's how i am going

just because ones streaming box says dolby atmos while watching a video or movie it don't mean that it's in atmos at all since the service compresses the sh*t out of some scenes!!! we watch movies over at a friends house and i was like WTF is this crap . they compressed certain scenes so bad you didn't hear em it didn't even use all of the channels on his AVR ...

What happened to the days where you just turned the boob tube on and poof football popped up  . i can't imagine logging into one streaming service and then trying to remember the password and do this use that oh sh*t now we have to use that remote. sh*t you have to do 5 million things just to watch the ball game:mad::mad:... the cable co's bought out half of these streaming services so your only paying whos been screwing you over

Greed. Starting with the football.

we still buy physical media!!! it's the only way to avoid the price hikes with streaming services and lowers the chances of you losing content that you bought
Heard on NPR today of a retro craze for physical rental
