Do people still watch satellite TV these days

What happened to the days where you just turned the boob tube on and poof football popped up  . i can't imagine logging into one streaming service and then trying to remember the password and do this use that oh sh*t now we have to use that remote. sh*t you have to do 5 million things just to watch the ball game:mad::mad:... the cable co's bought out half of these streaming services so your only paying whos been screwing you over
With just my Firestick remote, I turn on the TV, select the programming I want to watch and set the volume if needed. I haven't needed to enter passwords for any of my regular streams since I initially subscribed. My primary streaming service, YTTV, is not owned by a cable co., nor are the other streams I regularly watch. Bottom line, one button press turns the TV on, another button press takes me to YTTV where I select the programming I want to watch. Or alternately, one button press turns on the TV, and another button press lets me tell the Firestick what I want to watch regardless of which streaming app carries it.

Greed. Starting with the football.

Heard on NPR today of a retro craze for physical rental
Agree that greed started with football!!! i wonder what people are wanting to rent DVD or VHS 🤔 interesting!!! i will never rent optical discs again people just abuse em and scratch the hell out of em you get em home they don't work or skip all over the place or work in one play but not another :oops:

i always had more than one remote:mad:. i have only needed a password once.. i'll keep YTTV out of this as i think they will be the winner of all of the live tv services... some streamers have went under or have merged and it will prob get worse. i see stations going under as no one needs 500-600 channels:biggrin

I buy 'em. Cheap.

Anyway, BDs actually are more scratch resistant than the older DVDs. Better coatings.

And UHDs, the better made ones, may be the highest PQ and AQ you can get.

i buy UHD discs!!! i'll sometimes wait and buy em cheap depending on movie!!! i have an external BD drive hooked up to my kaleidescape and i get the 5.00 upgrade for the studio master.. if they have a disagreement with any studios i still own it. though if someone wants to buy it good luck until the dispute is over. to bad vinyl costs so dam much :biggrin . once i get the download the disc goes on the shelf.. and if somethings out of print forget it it costs even more

In full disclosure, I didn't throw the Roku TV remote away, since I do need it from time to time for updates or changing video/audio settings. But for daily use, my Firestick remotes do everything I want to do.

Speaking of physical media. DIRECTV is part of Movies Anywhere, so if you redeem those digital copy codes that come with many physical releases and link your accounts, PVOD versions of those movies will show up as already purchased and available to watch in the My Library section on Genies, Geminis, the DTV app and stream.directv.com.

Movies Anywhere linking works for all paid DIRECTV customers, including streaming genre pack subscribers. It might not work for MyFree users.
