Dolans new dish

I never thought of it that way. But I guess having a Voom dish on your house does say "I have HD come rob me". Better get them painted.
I have an HD logo on my SuperDish.

Unless it was a new install (under 30 days) *AND* ID was presented someone taking pictures of my dish would not be appreciated. That dish may not be there in the future.* :D

* The photographed dish might be stolen.

Yep, they are fishing.

That is why you can't see my dish from the road.

That is also why I didn't put the box for my TV on the curb for garbage pickup. It is a big sign that says ""Hey, there is a $2,000 TV in this house."

I laugh at the idiots that leave sh*t like that out on the curb. They do it to try to one-up the Joneses. :)

I am not sure I would believe that. Did you ask to see ID? I would call VOOM to inquire if they are doing that. I would also make sure your doors and windows are locked as well. A VOOM dish on the proprty means and HD set inside..means nice street value for more drugs. I hope I am wrong.

He was legit he even gave me his id number for install inc.

I actually had a guy come out about 6 months ago for the same thing. There was a post about this some time back about these guys. I checked for ID and all and it all looked legit. Some kind of customer service poll. This was during the time that Installs Inc was screwing up installs left and right I think.

Just curious, but if the FCC turns down the 61.5 satellite sale to E*, does that basically mean Chuck Dolan gets a free satellite out of his purchase of Voom since it belongs to Voom?

It technically belongs to cablevision, so he would likely just pay for it instead of Echostar. Rather big if though.

Both the satellite and Voom belong to Rainbow Media arm of Cablevision. The satellite wouldn't be part of an agreement with Sr. and if the deal with E* later folded, it would just stay with Rainbow Media. Some rather expensive space junk, I guess.

Thing is if Voom shuts down, the satellite is making ZERO revenue for Rainbow while the deal with E* is pending. Satellites still require upkeep and support staff. It's less than the full Voom operation, but CVC and Rainbow don't get off free.

Was payment for the operation of the satellite in the interim part of the E* deal?

Actually, the satellite and VOOM (and the call center) are part of Rainbow DBS. That's a separate division of Cablevision.

Rainbow DBS is a subset of Rainbow Media.

Don't they farm out the call center stuff to an outside company?
I guess I was misled by CVC's financial statements, where they lump Rainbow DBS in with MSG, theaters, and "Other". Oh, and I meant Uplink Site, not Call Center. My bad.

sound's like one of Installs Inc QC people that is what we do go around take picture of installs to make sure everything is hook up right I am not sure about the future upgrade quote though.

You must live in a strange neighborhood. Around here we put boxes out on the curb so they can be hauled away as trash. I can't honestly say I've ever paid any attention to what kind of boxes are waiting for pickup.

I take cardboard I don't want down to be recycled (we don't have curbside recycling outside of the city limits). Everything else must fit inside the trash container, with the lid shut, or the waste hauling specialists charge more.

But enough trash talk ...

Quality Control

Hey guys, about the techs coming to home for pictures, thats what my job is, Quality Control Tech. We are to inspect the installation and make sure it is grounded and neat. Take pictures and send them to Installs inc for Approval. To be safe make sure their badge is Black and their picture is on it. Unless they changed since mine was distributed. Installs # is also on the badge. Although to some it may seem curious, we are just trying to make a better install company of what we have. Hopefully if they found something wrong they tried to fix it (ie, not grounded, etc.)

It's good to be careful, just ask for the proper badge.

If you folks are really concerned about quality control, you might want to start by addressing the number of "no call/no show" incidents. While sloppy cabling might be a problem for some, I think this would rate much higher on the list, and it seems to be prevalent.

You're 1 out of 3 with me so far.
