The HD DVRs have that capability now!!! if you want to count DOD.

With a major rewrite of the software, they may be able to include OTA.

bk63ross - if you need more tuners, why don't you just get another DVR, then you can records FOUR shows at once, while still watching a 5th pre-recorded show. It's only another $5/month & if you've been a customer for awhile, D* will probably give it to you free...

If D* were smart, they would build a 3x4 into the DVR so you can record up to 4. Of course, the problem would be with the HD DVRs and the SWM units.

Not sure what you mean by adding a 3x4 into the DVR. The software would need to be rewritten for this as well. Not to mention two more tuners to be added. This would make it more expensive. Cheaper to just add another dual tuner receiver to the system.

There already are 4 tuners (2 sat, 2 OTA). If they were to do it, why not go for all four? There may be some CPU load issues (just a wild guess).

I mentioned new hardware would be needed to be able to record 4 sat signals.
The better option is two DVRs, until DirecTV produces a DVR with separate outputs for two TVs.
