Recorded M*A*S*H from Encore-HD late last night. Checked it this morning and ARGH! it's windowboxed.

That's actually very good.

It means that it has not yet been transferred to HD, and when they broadcast it on their SD channel, they did not do pan-and-scan, so you at least got it OAR and at full bitrate.

Hadn't considered that, but you've got a point there! I'll keep it and maybe, eventually the studio will do an HD transfer and we'll see an HD broadcast sometime...

I wonder if TGBE is the remastered, director's cut? I set a timer for it, just in case. Silverado is good one too (already have it) as is Rio Lobo (set a timer). Once Upon a Time in the West is a great film too!

HDNMV is definitely showing some great films this weekend!

Proof that setting a Dish Pass for a movie, and then forgetting about it, works !

MGM-HD:

Sleeper (1973,Woody Allen) - July 05 - 8pm ET

Often considered Woody Allen's best comedy film. (I haven't seen this shown on TV recently, let alone in HD) This was filmed in 1.85:1 and mono and 89 minutes long, so it will certainly be OAR and at least as many channels as the original and not cut for length.

Repeated on Saturday July 11 at 6pm ET.
