DVR fan??

I just got Direct TV installed this past weekend, and I noticed on my DVR box that even when I shut the power off, the exhaust fan continues to run. Is this normal???

It's very normal. Even though the unit is in "Standby" mode it is actually still on. It's busy keeping up with its recording schedule as well as doing its various housekeeping functions - like recording those annoying ads available on the DirecTV Central screen

Nothing to worry about.

There's really no reason to put it in standby either.

The only reason we put ours into standby is to turn off the lights at night. It is rather bright for the bedroom.
