I justed moved and Dish installed new equipment on the roof, I am not sure what exactly the second coax line is for.

Old Setup:
Elliptical Dish(3 sats) + 61.5, 4 lines down to dp44 one coax to 622

New setup
Dish for 110 and 119 and dish for 61.5, one pair of coax lines come off of the roof. One of the coax lines goes to my 622, the other is just hanging out in the basement.

Can I run another dual tuner box off of the second coax line if I wanted to? Do I need to anything special if wanted to run a single tuner box...the vip211 purchase price is pretty reasonable.

Assuming we're talking about DPP44 (not DP44, which I don't think exists) - You can run 4 singles off the DPP44 or you can run 4 dual tuners with DPP Separators on the receiver side of the connection. You can also run any combination.

The old install had a 44, it would appear that the switch is integrated into the LNBs on the new install.

The new install doesn't use the 44

Yeah I was busy painting inside and was too busy to get the full run down on what was done...I guess I could just find the paperwork.

If you don't see any external switch, then the installer probably used a DPP Twin, which has the input for the 61.5 built in.
In that case, yes... you could add an additional receiver with no problem.
