Echostar 14 update

It was still on cruise control at 1,51 degree/day at the ~4:30AM MDT TLE yesterday (sat). It would have arrived (below geo) 4 hrs later. Gives one an idea of the time window they used (<4 hrs) to start the 118 km adjustment.

Monday May 17 2010~1AM TLE
Eccentricity : 0.015 degree/east-west ( +/- 0.05 is stationkeeping standard)
5 km below GEO at TLE
It has arrived at the 118.8W slot

10 days from launch to test slot
~ 30 days testing of multiple beams (Conus and spot)
~1.5 degrees/day velocity between test and permanent slot
~ 58 days from launch to on station

Next up Echostar 15

Congrats to everyone involved in this successful launch. Also, contrats to all the long-suffering subs who will now be getting their SD or HD locals!

Watch the Uplink Report for activity.

Digiblur posted that he would be starting a thread on spots and signal strength reception when the transition begins.

There is probably some last minute testing once it is on station to verify it arrived in basic working condition before they start a mass switching.
