It's been said many times in this thread. It's also posted in the E14 Transition thread with the beam information and dates.
5/21 is the start of the transition.
It's always interesting until the sat is actually in service, and there are no last second "anomalies" that shut down a transponder (or 2 or 3). Stuff happens.

I am hearing a buzz that E14 will get there early so that the first phase of movement is being pushed up to the 19th!

That's awesome... I know the Shreveport and Wichita folks will love the earlier schedule.
What is the significance of the distance below geo? Is this what enables the drifting?
Yes, a sat goes above geo or below geo to drift. The above or below determines the direction of the drift.
The distance determines the rate of "drift".
The closer you bring something to Earth, the faster it has to travel to avoid being sucked in by the increasing gravity.
In other words, you start moving the satellite east, and since it is in the same direction as the rotation of the earth, the angular velocity w.r.t the earth increases, and hence the centrifulgal force. So you need to bring it closer to the earth to increase the gravitaional force to avoid it from escaping earth's gravity. The faster the satellite travels east, the higher the centrifugal force, and hence you have to bring it closer to the earth to increase the gravitational pull to nullify the increase in the centripetal force.
Is this explanation correct?

I'll also probably do another thread that is typical of a new spotbeam satellite coming online. Posting your 1-5 transponders (spots) and 2 left hand and 2 right hand CONUS transponders.
But I do agree...copy your 119 transponder strengths down now(don't worry about 1,3,5,7,9 as those are spots right now).
