Yesterday I started having trouble logging into the site. Kept getting this error. Not sure what changed but it was a problem on Google Chrome. No reboot Chrome or entire computer fixed it.
Asked Grok- Said this is a bug in XenForo - Chrome and suggested trying another browser. That's working. Now today, My MS Edge has the same problem.
Scott- this is above my level of understanding. Can you explain it?

Sounds like cookies aren't getting cleared when they expire. Interesting that it isn't affecting all browsers, so maybe something with Chromium and XenForo since you said Edge is also impacted.

Or, maybe it's the XenForo Crumbl 🍪 tie-in:
😉

This problem pops up occasionally for me. Purging the Satellite Guys cookies usually helps.

Google "addressed" 131 bugs in Edge/Chromium this month and 80 in April, according to Bleeping Computer.

I'm not thoroughly convinced that they run the AI bug finders on their resultant code fixes.

You do know that Edge is Chrome based, Right?

One should never equate Chrome and Chromium. Chrome adds its own "personality" to the ClusterFuzz (one of Google's AI tools for identifying software bugs).
Good point, thanks for clearing that up. Since both Chrome and Edge are both based on Chromium though, it's not surprising they might both have the same cookie issue.

I just went into the web server software and changed the cookie size limit from 4K to 16k which should hopefully fix that for you.

Let me know!
Thanks Scott. Everything is working again. I figured you would know what was going on and know how to fix it.

Pretty much most of the popular browsers other than Firefox are based on Chromium. There are a few obscure browsers like Tor that are based on Firefox.

Firefox isn't harmless in the bug game, but they have been using AI (Claude Mythos) for some time to iron out the wrinkles.

There have been so many Unix security patches the past few days that one of them may have screwed things up.

I got the error message "ERROR 400 Cookies too large" today on my iPad. The site will sometimes load but a lot of times says "Server Not Found". On the rare occasions where the site does load none of the site or user icons show up and when I tried to post about the issue the text box where you type in the message was missing with just the "ERROR 400 Cookies too large". It still isn't working on my iPad but it is working on my Mac using Firefox. Safair on my mac is doing the same thing that is happening on my iPad. I also tried Chrome on my iPad and it was having the same problem as Safari. Also I tried deleting the satelliteguys.us cookie in Safari but it still currently won't load with this page showing this.

There was an outage of our DNS and CDN host this afternoon. All should be good now.
It is not good now with the issue I described. I have tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Brave on my iPad and all of them do the same thing. Sometimes a page loads but very slowly and none of the icons and images load and there is no text box to post. On Safari I cleared all cookies and website data and I no longer get the "ERROR 400 Cookies too large". On my Mac at least Firefox works fine but not Safari, Chrome, or Brave. Attached are the screens of what I am seeing from the iPad. Notice on the first image there is no text box to make a post.

You might need to Force Quit all your Apps, and then Cold boot your iPad.
Yeah I have tried closing all apps and powered off the iPad a few times and the site is still doing the same thing on the iPad and I have tried 5 different browsers on the iPad and they all act the same way but only on this website. I haven't found any other website where I have this issue and all other websites work fine on the iPad.

Power off is not a cold boot. Depending upon which iPad you have, perform the procedure listed below.

Over the past 48 hours there have been a number of zero day patches installed on the server. Looking at the server some config files have been reset. I have just gone through them and reset things back to the way they were.

Over the past 2 weeks there has been a major security patch almost daily and yesterday there were three alone.

Cpanel says that some of the issues were so bad that anyone could get root access to the server by some simple methods. I have been applying their patches as soon as they have come out.

I do appologize as security is important to me and the site.

Let me know how it is now.
