ESPN suspends Smith for comments on abuse

It's also surprising that his Mad Dog Sports Radio show will be recorded in ESPN's studios and produced by them even though ESPN has their own stations on SiriusXM. Is it really a Mad Dog show if ESPN is the one making it or is it more of an ESPN on Mad Dog situation?

I do listen to both ESPN Radio and Mad Dog Radio occasionally. I really like having a national alternative to ESPN Radio for those times where ESPN turns into TMZ for sports. I also like having the ESPN options when Mad Dog is talking about something I'm not interested in. I'd rather the lines didn't start to blur between those two entities.

There seems to be a lot of blur going on in sports. Fox and MLB Network have teamed up. CBS and NFL Network. NBC and NHL Network merge for the playoffs. Plus you have Russo with his show on MLB.

Definitely makes sense from ESPN's perspective. Since they still want him on TV, producing his SiriusXM shows brings in revenue, and most likely he will be cross-promoting the shows as well....
