Question : why can I not record a program through my firewire connection to my DVR , I can record the same program to my VCR ?

So, for example, you want to connect your camcorder to your DVR with a firewire cable and have the DVR record what you are playing on the camcorder?

The only reasons I can think of are software limitations and why on earth you would want to do that. Cable cos have been pretty clear that their boxes are not media machines.
