Simple Friday FTA fun poll this week. Got this from another member here :)

How do you hook your primary FTA receiver to your primary TV set?

1. RF modulator (perhaps channel 3, 4, or other)?
2. composite video - usually yellow coax with RCA connector
3. S-video connector - (4 pin round thing)
4. component video cables - 3 RCA video cables
5. HDMI
6. DVI - possibly from a computer?
7. VGA - possibly from a computer?
8. other (please specify)

My SDTV currently has 3 devices hooked up

FTA STB Coolsat 5000 using Composite

Toshiba TRX-2220/4DTV DSR 905 using composite

Analog basic cable using RF input

I use component cables for all my receivers, including the DVB PCI computer. I run them all through a 6 input electronic switch, that allows me to select which receiver I want to watch on the main TV, with the push of a button on the remote. Oddly, on my HD setup, I get no sound if I use the HDMI cable . I think that since HDMI cable should carry the audio, my TV senses the HDMI cable and then expects audio on THOSE lines instead of through the RCA connectors. At my PC end of the HDMI, I have a DVI/HDMI converter, so there is NO audio on my HDMI cable. So I HAVE to use component cables, and rca audio for the HD side.

SonicView SV-8000HD, coolsat 5k, Technotrend S2-3200 PCI card, all connected to a DVDO VP50 sent to a Gefen 1:4 HDMI splitter (with audio) to all displays. Controlled via RF remote control. YES, I like my TV :)

My dvb-pci cards are connected to the tv through the video card via a dvi cable. The Coolsat 5000 is used mainly for blilnd scanning, it is connected directly to the tv via component. Htpc is the way to go for me, everything is connected to everything else all the time...it is a jungle behind there, someday I've gotta neaten up that cable mess......but not today.;)

I voted for Component, as my Qualitv is hooked up this way, but all my other FTA receivers are hooked via A/V cables (composite). And my 2 FTA PCI cards are hooked through DVI.

All of the above except HDMI and DVI so far.

Twinhan VGA, could use DVI to HDMI, but why bother. :)
Pansat 3500 Component.
Traxis S-Video
Coolsat composite
Fortec 5400IR composite
4DTV composite
GI 420I composite

All in my room.

9200 HDMI, though I'll likely change it to component if I decide to buy a blu-ray player.

My Visionsat is connected via component YPbPr to a Silicon Image DVDO iScan transcoder, which converts the YPbPr to RGB. It is then output to the VGA input on my Samsung PC flatscreen :)
