Good day everyone,
I have been a Dish customer from '96 and have:
1-722 with additional hard drives, sling adapter, broadband, google hookup
2-622 with additional hard drives
2-221 with additional hard drives
1-305
1-501 decommissioned
All are owned except for 1-622 that is leased and past it's 2 year commitment.
All equipment is OTA hooked up with DPP-42switches, etc.

With all the equipment charges and fees, we are tired of the $163.oo monthly charge and are considering cancelling and going Netflix, Hulu+, etc.

How useful will my equipment be if my subscription is cancelled?
Can I view OTA?
Can I record OTA?
Can I view previously recorded material on the DVR and additional hard drives?
Can I keep the additional hard drives attached and record to them?
Can I use the sling adapter?

Tech Support said nothing will work. I find that hard to believe. They obviously can't answer these questions due to policy.
Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks,
Herman

i beleive they are correct, with no activation, they nits wont work

buti could be wrong

Sounds as thoughcraigslist or eBay will be your best friends soon.

The only thing you might be able to do is watch recorded programming on your internal hard drives. But nit likely

You could keep the 722 active with a minimum subscription like the Welcome Pac for $15/mo. The hard drives from the 622 could be used on the 722 and as long as the 722 is active you could record OTA on it.

The 501 is dead DISH is doing away with them, the hard drives on the 211 can't be connected to 722/622 receivers so you need to record anything you want to save from those Hard drives onto some other media. The leased 622 will have to be returned to DISH because they own it.

If the cost will fit your budget you could also keep the owned 622 active and combine the TV 1 & 2 outputs with the TV 1 & 2 outputs of the 722 giving you 4 channels that could be distributed to all TVs in the house. Those 4 channels would be SD only.

Six receivers will certainly make your bill high! Isn't there a way to whittle that down, or get two Hoppers, etc...?
